The morning of January 12th, I gave Luna four milliliters of Gabapentin. It was the dose her emergency vet had prescribed for future visits a week earlier. Two milliliters is what she takes for pain. Four is what you give one to two hours before a vet visit. Especially when the cat does not enjoy being handled. At that dose you are not taking the edge off. You are knocking her down far enough that a veterinarian can get close to her, handle her, and administer the real sedation without anyone getting hurt. Luna is what vets refer to as a spicy kitty. That was the plan. There was a reason we needed one.
